VCSE Training

  • An array of free and low cost training opportunities aimed at  VCSE and members of the ICS Academy VCSE Faculty have been collated and categorised. 

    The list of categories are shown below offering a wide range of opportunities.

    • The Disability Services Advocacy Team (DSAT) support with raising awareness of the different Disability Services benefits and grants. These are Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) and Access to Work (AtW). 

      Our team offer a series of specialised awareness and upskilling sessions focused on these areas of Disability Services. We invite organisations and support providers including VCSE organisations to register for these events using their professional email addresses.   These sessions are not appropriate for members of the public.

      The current training programme covers the following topics:


      • Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Reporting a Change of Circumstances

      • DWP Disability Services Support for SEND Schools, Colleges, and Support Organisations

      • Access to Work (AtW)

      • Disability Living Allowance for Children

      • Appointees and Other Payees

      • Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service

        To support our partners in identifying when individuals may benefit from a Home Fire Safety Visit (HFSV), our Prevention Engagement Officers offer free, face-to-face Professionals Hazard Awareness training. This training is designed for professionals and carers who work with vulnerable individuals and aims to equip them with the skills to spot fire hazards in the home.

        • The ICS Coaching & Mentoring Hub is a collaboration between Social Care, Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise sector, Local Authorities, Primary Care and NHS organisations across Herefordshire and Worcestershire around coaching and mentoring.  

          Our shared aim is “To provide a shared and inclusive approach and system for colleagues across the ICS to access, implement and evaluate coaching support”.

            ICS Leadership & Management Essentials Guide

            • Stop Loan Sharks is a UK initiative dedicated to tackling illegal money lending and supporting victims. They provide confidential advice, help, and resources to communities affected by loan sharks.

              The organisation runs awareness campaigns, including Stop Loan Sharks Week, and offers toolkits and materials to help VCSE groups raise awareness and signpost support.

              • The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO)

                This practical session will build your awareness of different types of reporting and support you to tell a compelling story through your reporting. By the end of the training, you'll: 


                • Develop a deeper understanding of how to create effective reports
                • Build confidence in visualising both qualitative and quantitative data
                • Learn how to tell the data story
                • Start to develop a toolbox of approaches to ensure your reports are both useful and usable

                • SENDIASS offers free training to increase knowledge of SEND law, guidance, local policy, and related issues. Training includes workshops specifically for parents and carers, workshops for professionals, and signposting to other training providers.

                  SENDIASS training | Worcestershire County Council

                  • The Zero Suicide Alliance

                    Through this 20-minute suicide awareness training you will gain the skills and confidence to help someone who may be considering suicide. Anyone can learn how to have a potentially life-saving conversation. You will learn how to spot suicide warning signs, how to have a conversation with someone you’re worried about, where to signpost to for further support, and that suicide is preventable. You will get a certificate when you have completed the training.

                    • Young Solutions offers a wide range of training for individuals, organisations and partnerships involved in improving the quality of life for children and young people, including Safeguarding and Child Protection, Awareness of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Safeguarding Adolescents, The Basics of Good Youth Work, Dealing with Challenging Behaviour, Basic Drug and Alcohol Awareness, First Aid, Detached Youth Work,  and Young People’s Mental Health.
