The Future of Health and Social Care Project 2025 - 2026
The Future of Health and Social Care Project 2025 - 2026
This 2-year campaign runs from January 2025 to December 2026 and is designed to promote the new Future of Health and Social Care: Empowering Nurses and Midwives to Lead Change in Climate and Social Justice’ project.
The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare is partnering with The Burdett Trust for Nursing to launch a series of free to access courses for nurses and midwives.
The programme focuses on improving population health, promoting climate justice, and addressing health disparities. It will offer virtual training to over 2,300 nurses and midwives, from frontline workers to senior leaders, covering climate literacy, sustainability, and social justice.
Key Programme Features
- Tier 1, Foundational Course: 1,000 frontline nurses and midwives annually will gain essential skills to integrate sustainable practices and tackle climate-related health inequalities (2,000 over the course of the whole project).
- Tier 2, Technical Course: 100 service leads will deepen their expertise in sustainability and quality improvement frameworks, advancing climate-conscious, equitable healthcare (200 over the course of the whole project).
- Tier 3, Leadership Programme: 60 senior leaders will develop the capacity to champion sustainability in healthcare strategy and policy (120 over the course of the whole project).
This initiative will leave a legacy of a climate-conscious, equitable healthcare workforce, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across the sector. Nurses and midwives will be positioned to lead change, ensuring healthcare systems contribute to a sustainable, fairer future for all communities.
CSH will lead on communications and provide partners and sponsors with communication resources. The project will predominantly be promoted on social media, through LinkedIn and Bluesky, and will be split into four phases, with embargoed content to be scheduled for specific milestones.
