ICS Facilitator (Team Development) Training Opportunity
Do you work in a leadership or a development focussed role within a health or care related organisation in Herefordshire & Worcestershire ICS?
Are you interested in becoming an ICS facilitator to support team development?
Would you like the opportunity to support the development of teams in a range of health and social care organisations across Herefordshire and Worcestershire?
- As part of the increased partnership and system working across health and social care in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, we are looking to develop a pool of trained facilitators primarily to support team development across our Integrated Care System (ICS). If you’ve not heard of the ICS before you can find out more here: Integrated Care System :: Herefordshire and Worcestershire
- Funding is available to train a cohort of 16 people as facilitators
- This opportunity is open to individuals working in any part of the health and social care system in Herefordshire and Worcestershire (including social care, local authorities, NHS Trusts, ICB, GP & primary care settings, voluntary, community & social enterprise sector, care homes, hospices etc). This programme will have a system focus and successful candidates will be expected to commit to facilitating three development sessions per year for teams from across different organisations in the system.
- The programme will be delivered face to face over two one day workshops, on the 29th and 30th January 2025 plus a virtual briefing around the system role on the 13th February 2025 9.30 to 10.30 am
What is the aim of the programme?
The ICS Facilitator Training aims to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to facilitate sessions with teams in any health and care setting.
As an Integrated Care System, we are looking to expand the facilitator capacity across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, to enable us to collectively support teams from different organisations and sectors to develop, lead and work even more effectively together – enabling ongoing improvements to be made to care and high-quality services to be delivered.
As part of this aim, facilitators who complete this training will be expected to facilitate a minimum of 3 sessions per year for teams from the wider Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care System (i.e. beyond your own organisation). These teams could include colleagues from a wide variety of different organisations (including social care, local authorities; Integrated Care Board; GP & primary care settings, care homes, voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, NHS Trusts, etc).
What will the programme involve?
The programme will be highly interactive and the content is outlined as follows
What will I need to do?
By applying for a place on the programme, participants will be committing to the following:
- Active participation and full attendance at the 2 x one day face to face workshops and 1 x 1-hour virtual briefing session
In addition, as part of your place being fully funded on this programme, the ongoing commitment will be for you to:
- Become
part of the pool of facilitators available across the Herefordshire and
Worcestershire health and care system
- Agree
to facilitate team development workshops to colleagues from any part of the
Herefordshire and Worcestershire health and care system – to include
participants on system-wide leadership programmes
- Commit
to facilitating a minimum of 3 sessions for teams across the system per year (each
session = up to 1 day in duration – plus some preparation time).
Once trained you will also be included in ongoing development and peer support sessions made available for ICS facilitators within the Herefordshire and Worcestershire system.
Who can apply for the facilitator programme?
It is likely you will be:
- In a role focussed on the development of others and/or have leadership responsibilities – this could include project or people leadership
- Currently working within a health, care or wellbeing related organisation in Herefordshire and/or Worcestershire (this could include social care, local authorities, NHS Trusts, ICB, GP & primary care settings, voluntary, community & social enterprise sector organisations, care homes, hospices etc).
- Be positive about wanting to support the development of those around you and enabling others to make improvements to services.
- Be committed to supporting the health and care system in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
What would you be expected to do after the training?
With a co-facilitator you would be expected to design, facilitate and evaluate a team development session. Prior to the session you will need to explore with the participating lead what the objectives and key outcomes would be for the team development session. Any participating ICS Team would need to have undertaken the ICS Team Diagnostic Tool to help with this process.
Once the objectives are agreed, with your co-facilitator, you will design, deliver and evaluate a half day or full day of facilitation.
To assist you will be able to access a range of pre-designed workshops that could be used as they are or adapted according to need.
There may also be the opportunity to facilitate ICS workshops to support discussions about different ways of working or how to resolve a particular issue or challenge to system working.
You may also be asked to consider contributing to facilitated delivery of ICS workshops e.g. leadership and line management development workshops such as career conversations etc.
