Introduction to Basic Digital Skills
As part of the UK Shared Prosperity Funding, Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce are delivering free training courses to individuals living in Wychavon*, Worcester City and Wyre Forest. These new training courses will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis to residents in these districts. Based on the Worcestershire LSIP findings, employers identified two large skills gaps that are both a need and a necessity in the workplace.
An Introduction to Basic Digital Skills
2 Day Training Course
This course covers:
Basic IT Administration
- Navigating the computer
- Setting up and managing folders
- Managing passwords
Exploring Microsoft packages- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Outlook

The Course
Course objectives:
Participants will gain proficiency in computer navigation, basic functions, and the utilisation of fundamental office programmes, empowering them to enhance efficiency and foster professional development.
Proposed course content:
DAY 1
Introduction (09.00 -09.30)
Introductions - everyone to intro and give a bit of the background.
“One thing I want to learn or understand by the end of tomorrow” (captured on a board and tick off as we learn). N.B We might not be able to cover everything due to topic/time constraints, in which case signposting will be provided.Session 1 - What have we got? (09.30 - 12.30 - break 11.00-11.15)
Navigating the computer
Overview of MS programmes/apps - what they are, how you access them, what they are best for
